About Us

As one of the largest independent janitorial distributors in the country and with nearly 20,000 products lines available at any one time, we are truly able to offer that “One Stop Shop” Experience.

With our fleet of vans and through careful use of courier and pallet deliveries we are able to send goods to any address in the country meaning we can get your goods to site when you need them every time.

Between the whole team, we have decades of experience and consider ourselves an extra part of your cleaning operation.

In the early eighties John Wentzell father of 3 of the current owners of the company was becoming increasingly aware that there was nowhere locally to buy good quality cleaning equipment for the contract cleaning business he was then running 39. Hedley Street, a small side road in Maidstone came on the market in 1984 and was purchased for £34,000.00. Initially no-one knew Capital was there but gradually our name spread and the shop became busier. Word got around that if you went to Capital with a problem someone was usually able to help with good advice from practical experience.

Over the years the business flourished and we were making deliveries of goods throughout Kent. The problem with this expansion was that we ran out of space and began a search for more suitable premises. So after 14 years at Hedley Street in 1998 we found a place in Granville Road, Maidstone with 3,500 square feet, which would suit our needs. It needed a lot of work doing to it but we could see the potential and we renamed the building Paragon House after the block of flats where John grew up as a boy in the Elephant & Castle.

The company continued to expand its turnover and business activities. So in 2006 we moved again to our current premises, a giant leap to a 13,500 square foot state of the art office and warehouse complex which also houses our training school and engineering workshop. We now have five vans making regular deliveries not only throughout Kent but to the whole of London and the rest of the South East.

Express Cleaning Supplies, the first UK Company of its type to offer secure online ordering established its web site 1998 and it has continued to flourish ever since. The company won a number of prestigious awards including the regional DTI backed E-commerce awards and the Corporate Times award for Excellence in Customer Services.

Capital acquired the web site in the summer of 2009 and has continued to operate it successfully ever since. The web site was completely rebuilt in 2011 using the very latest ecommerce security and safety features.

Capital introduced workwear to its range in 2004 the addition of which greatly enhances the claim of being a truly “One Stop Shop” for all your cleaning, hygiene and workwear needs.

The launch of the web site in 2013 has enabled us to further extend our services including embroidery and printing services. In this age of Corporate awareness, branding is paramount to a professional appearance. We are able to offer a full personalisation service, whether you need embroidery onto a couple of polo shirts or printing onto 100's of Hi Viz garments.
